If it can be folded into a compliant bag, it can be folded and tied down with rope.

Without knowing the carrier and thus the fee, is it possible that as you intend to ditch the bag at the conclusion of your trip, that you purchase something dirt cheap on arrival in Europe and ditch that at the end of your trip?
