Oh fun, I always enjoy this:
Who: 2nd Year Law Student living in Durham, NC. No UA Status
When: I flew a grand total of 3 United flights in 2014 and I'm proud of it
How: All my flying is leisure and I travel enough for either mid-tier status on one airline or low-tier on two. Sadly, between AA/US, DL and UA, UA is far and away the worst airline in the southeast, so I decided to split my money between Delta and American with whom I hold low tier status on each.
Where: 2014 started with a road trip from Michigan to Maryland, then I went to New York, Chicago, Budapest, a train trip from Chicago to DC, Pittsburgh, Toronto, DC again, Atlanta, Miami, New York again, Cleveland, Charlottesville (road trip), Miami again, Philadelphia, New York again, Arizona (Phoenix, Tucson and a pair of national parks), Chicago again, another train trip from Chicago to DC, a train trip from LA to New Orleans, a road trip from San Jose to LA, Chicago a final time and I'm about to leave for Spain.
Why: Like I said, United isn't very good here in the Southeast. Plus, I've found MP miles harder to redeem and I don't like much about their product or their FFP.
What: I do have two trips on UA booked for next year, both P-fares, but I also have a ton of travel booked on Delta who I may shoot for Gold Medallion with.
