Did you have it set to sync over WiFi? You can try that, in addition to connecting the cable to your PC, to see if iTunes can recognize it.

If so, Restore iPhone should reset everything to factory settings.

If not, pulverize it with a hammer and give it back to Apple for recycling. I'm not sure microwaving a device with a metal frame and lithium battery is a great idea.
