I have not done LAX in a few years, but I have used the pre CBP restrooms at IAH and ORD to wait for someone coming from the back of the plane.

You could take a long potty break.


All that being said, having been on different flights from different destinations CBP might not want to process you together, I say that after two of my employees who were married arrived together and tried something similar at ATL-CBP was not happy and they both got a secondary.

This happened about 4 years ago so now who knows. It was not an issue of segregating flights but CBP felt they were trying to "dupe" them somehow (they were not, and 45 minutes later they got out). YMMV
