Who: Independent supply chain analyst (consultant) international oil exploration and development.

When: Didn't make 1K this year. Stuck at Gold.

How: Mostly work. My wife flies with me so I guess that's considered vacation (for her). Strictly Business Class for both of us unless we get an upgrade.

Where: One reason didn't make 1K is that all my travel was between SFO and BKK. Personal travel was by train or car.

Why: Status makes it easier to get upgrades. Although the GPU upgrades are pretty much worthless Business Class to First international as they won't honor them unless you buy an expensive ticket. Much, much cheaper to Miles and Money upgrade ourselves.

What: I lucked out with the lower oil prices. The company I'm consulting with cancelled all consultant contracts when oil went to $60.bbl. Except mine. My field is obscure and esoteric enough that they don't have an internal resource to replace me. So travel will remain the same to BKK. Talking with Mrs. T about Florida and/or New York for vacations.
