It find it odd that anyone in this thread who is not a commercial airline pilot would second guess the actions of the flight crew in a situation like this. A florist has not right to tell and architect how to do their job. A veterinarian has no right to tell a fire fighter how to fight fires. A taxi driver should not be critiquing ATC.

ANYONE who thinks the flight crew has anything other than safety in mind is just looking for a reason to armchair quarterback.
