Other than checking frequently to see if an upgrade using avios seat opens up, there's not much you can do. In general, BA adds upgrade availability around 1am UK time, though if someone else cancels their F award seat it might open something at any random time. I would keep checking until 24 hours prior to departure. At that point your only option is an AUP maybe.
