I once was really late for a flight, checked my bags and was told they would not make it to my destination till much later. When I landed, I went to baggage claim and there they were, riding around a different baggage carrousel alone! This was Before the luggage from my plane was even loaded onto the carousel. Somehow my luggage beat the plane there, which had a tight connection. . Go figure.
That can happen when late checking on a though or connecting flight and they miss but were loaded on a later direct.
Once I got stuck overnight in BWI due to weather and my bags somehow made it home before I did. I still have no clue how they did that as I saw no connections.
