I don't like that definition, since I think the idea of "hub" implies "spokes" being attached. If one starts with the United-provided list of "
hubs and key airports" and removes the ones that have no mainline traffic to airports not on that list: BOS, FRA and LHR, one is left with ORD, CLE (with 7 spoke cities), DEN, GUM (with 18 spoke cities), IAH, LAX, EWR, SFO, NRT (with 3 spoke cities) and IAD.
