Have you been to Bali before? We went 2 years ago when our daughter was 10 months. I ask because one thing I heard about (but didn't understand the depth) was in Bali (maybe all Indonesia, I am not sure) there is a belief the younger the child, the closer to God. This means, you and your baby will have a lot of attention. When we were out and about, everyone wanted to talk to her, touch her, get her attention, etc. Although I appreciate the sentiment, it was a bit much by the end of the trip.

I would recommend staying in Nusa Dua the first night if you have a late arrival. Traffic can be quite bad. I can't quite remember, but I think it was a 2-3 hour drive where as Nusa Dua was more like 30-40 minutes. I have done 3 hotels in 6 nights with my daughter at 18 months and regretted it. It was too much for her. I think 2 properties in 6 days is easier on the kids, but you know your family best and what they can do.
