AA allows free selection of any seat for any level of F/J fare. Most of the better seats in Y require payment unless you are on a full fare or have status, and some are reserved for status pax. The result is that free seat selection in Y is limited to middle seats and some others near the back. However, at T-24 many better seats often become available free.
