If it's a single ticket, my experience says yes. Or at least that you will be asked for it. I've never been in the position to say I don't have it but I will at my connection, so I'm not sure what would happen.

You could always call and ask.

(I'm making the huge leap in logic that "AAA" was a placeholder and you're not flying Anaa Airport to LAX, which would obviously require a passport)
