I was there at the end of October and did laundry. There is one just a few blocks from the hotel, definitely walking distance. I easily walked there and back with a full load of laundry. It is on the main street to the left (west) as you exit the hotel, the one where you catch all the buses, Higashi Oji Dori.

Exit the hotel front door, turn left and keep walking. Pass the street that Heian Jingu is on (you can see the big, red Torii gate) and keep going to the next main street. There are traffic lights and a McDonalds on the northeast corner. Turn left on Higashi Oji Dori and it is just one or one and a half blocks down on the left side. The hotel told us where to go and they even have a pre-printed map to give you. Just ask them. It is about a 5-8 minute walk.

The weird thing I noticed is they don't use laundry soap. I don't know if the machines add it automatically or if they just don't use it but there are even picture signs on the machines not to use it. They have a change machine in the laundromat and a machine that sells dryer sheets. There is no one working there and the machines are a bit confusing but they go by time and what you have in your load so with a bit of reading (pictures) you can figure it out. Dryer are time-based. Oh, and remove your shoes before you enter - there are slippers for you to wear while you are in there.

I was the only one who sat and waited while I did my laundry. Everyone else just put theirs in and left. I think they thought it was a bit strange that I was sitting there reading but it was late at night and I was tired and my husband was meeting me there. But had it been earlier, I would have planned to put my stuff in and go for dinner or a drink.
