Putting the hyperbole about what defines a BA premium passenger to one side.....we could argue about that one until the cows come home especially when you consider how cheaply tier points can be earned. Your class of travel not how much you paid has always defined your travel status hence why a CW ticket gives you lounge access, extra luggage allowance etc. so it's only natural one would assume early seat selection would be included as well.
It means one less thing to worry about which after all is my idea of what travelling in a premium cabin should be.
BA as a business don't see it that way which is fair enough if it works for them. I admire the way they give their status holders a benefit at no cost to themselves just by taking it away from the ordinary customer....that's smart. ^
Agreed with HIDDY.
One thing to note is that if you do indeed fly a lot and have status with another OW carrier (Sapphire or Emerald) then BA would give you free seat selection at the time of booking. Presumably the OP does not have status with another OW carrier.
