I take your point. I have probably pushed the argument in favour a little more forcefully than is helpful in this thread.

A few things to add some context - I did pay the seat selection fee myself a few years ago when I was a blue/bronze and I knew about the fee when I booked. All of my BA/OW travel over the last two years has been paid for by myself and none by my employer.
