You probably won't get an e-mail but you can go ahead and book right now using the 2015 50% discount award. I made a booking today for BKK-CDG-BKK in F, departing on February 6th.. It cost me 92,500 miles.
As long as the departure date is in 2015 it appears you can book now and the ticket does not have to be issued, or taxes/charges paid for until 2015 ^
