Should I book AA flights on aa.com?

I'd be grateful for the advice of forum members with experience of using aa.com with their BAEC FF number. Normally I book my TATL flights on ba.com but for our family holiday in October I'm looking to book LHR-DFW, then DFW-PHX on AA (mainly because it's a lot cheaper than BA's direct flight). From what I read on Flyertalk AA in Y is more tolerable in the new 77W's Main Cabin Extra. Entering my BAEC Gold number in the AA booking engine allows me to choose MCE seats for free and before I commit to paying. For the same flights via ba.com I am unable to choose the MCE seats before paying. So, my questions are:
1. If I book via aa.com will tier points and avois credit to my BA account?
2. Will I be able to see the flights on BA's MMB?
3. My natural inclination is to book via ba.com but is there a risk I won't be able to select MCE seats as soon as I've paid (noting that availability is wide open
at present)? [I'm aware that I'm unable to pre-book decent economy seats on an AA codeshare with Alaska on a forthcoming itinerary via MMB or by ringing BA; will it be different with AA mainline?]
Many thanks
