I think, if the OP's tone was simply disappointment, he wouldn't have been slammed. The OP <basically> expected and demanded THOUSANDS of dollars back, which is simply unrealistic.

I'm guessing that you didn't read most of the other 86 posts above before you posted.
The FA jump seat was out of service and the FAA requires that the FA sit in the absolute closest seat to the jump seat in these situations. They tried to change seats with other pax on board with no luck.

I think the true lesson learned is, that specific seats aren't guaranteed. If for some reason, you really need to sit together, there are things you have to take into consideration, like, a possible broken FA jump seat. A seat for an anonymous Federal Air Marshal. Meal choices (I've started to sit in the middle of F on meal flights to get the best chance of a meal choice). Etc.
