If you've got the opportunity, I'd say Shenzhen Airport is worth passing through for the experience; a cookie cutter airport it is not.
Try spending a handful of Friday evenings or Saturday mornings there during the summer months, and I bet you'll change your tune (it gets VERY hot, long delays are the norm, and food options are scant).
