If this is something like Hyatt's requirement to spend something like $200,000 to have a chance to get lifetime Diamond status, can't say I'll be in the game for that game. I spread my stays across so many brands and am booked via so many different booking channels that deciding to rack up $200,000 in eligible hotel charges for lifetime elite status just isn't going to happen for me absent extraordinary circumstances.
A straight "night/stay counter + X number of years at a given status level" requirement would make more sense for me and be more attractive to me than having to consciously note that the pursuit of the lifetime status will be $200,000 or more.
