When I've travelled in "poorer" countries in the past, I've invariably managed to get much better deals on tours by turning up and booking directly with a local operator. I've found a camping tour from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls that takes 11 days for around $900.

I know that's not a bad price, but am I likely to be able to find a better deal in person after I've arrived? Unless I can get it a bit cheaper, I'm thinking of just doing a Kruger tour then flying up to Victoria Falls instead.
