Well I dont think they are doing the right thing in this case but they arent in the wrong if they decide not to refund and stiff the soldier. There are a lot of strange and uninformed opinions on this thread in regards to service in the US armed forces. For starters DOD civilians and GSA employees are in no way shape manner or form held to the same rules and protocals as members of the uniformed armed services. GSA employees are treated like royalty in comparison to uniformed service members. There is no cancellation reimbursement policy for the navy when flying on your time or maybe theres one, its probably in the "suck it up and shut up" rule book. The government doesnt pay you for cancellations and change fees. We used to have a fund at the company and batallion level for these sorts of issues. I just think also that Spirit could react in a more respectful manner although its their right not to do so if they choose not to although from the article it sounds as if there will be a refund eventually
