I won a prize earlier so presently I have around 11000 miles in my account of which around 3700 expire in 2017.

Qatar have offered 5000 Qmiles which would take me to around 16000.
Still not enough to book a one way ticket to Asia at around 37,500 miles, I read I would need half to book with part cash part miles.
Even then I am not convinced how cheap it would be to book as normally it is more expensive to book two one way tickets and I would only be able to book one way with the part Qmiles + cash?

If I cannot transfer the miles to say BA then I guess I could try and ask for Qcredits, I would prefer to be upgraded to Silver but they ignored that when I asked.

What kind of value of purchase could I make at duty free with the Qmiles?
Any calculation of how much 1000 or 10000 miles is worth in terms of purchase not what Qatar selling them for?

My flight departed 1 hour and 22 minutes later than scheduled due to operational reasons.
As a result of that delay, I arrived in Doha later than scheduled and consequently missed my connecting flight to Manchester. Since there were no immediate alternate flights to Manchester, I was re-booked to travel on the next flight to London Heathrow with an onward flight to Manchester with British Airways. But this resulted in my arriving around 10 hours later in Manchester and I also experienced some very poor service from the ground staff in Doha which I will not bore everyone with but it was all on my original detailed complaint!

Any other suggestions on what I could suggest to Qatar in place of 5000 Qmiles, please let me know?

Thanks
I think it would be like beating a dead horse. If you had travel insurance and this 10 hour delay caused a great deal of inconvenience and cost, then you should be claiming that insurance.

Based on the experience you mentioned there is no obligation for QR or any airline to compensate you, so that 5k miles gesture is probably the maximum you'll ever get. The expectation to have the status upgraded because of a flight delay needs to be reassessed, not something an airline would look into unless you're a corporate client.
