I think that the answer to "what is the best J product" is CX. This requires a connection somewhere, but it is the top product on the route. KE is a nice choice, but I'd rather a long direct flight to HKG than a midway connection in Asia. SQ is CX's (different) equal, so that may be a consideration as well, though that requires the longer transcend connection in the US.
