well, this is just like compubank all over again. compubank's competitive "advantage" was ClickMiles, and they became too expensive to award, which in turn cost them customers. like giftcertificates.com, their slide was no secret, but losing that advantage was the nail in the coffin that kept it shut. the rewards program was the point of giftcertificates.com; otherhow, GCs are easy enough to find and send online. without it, they're gonna die and they're gonna die fast. sad, really.
