Definitely unfair, but it might be a batch thing where Chase sends notifications to United once a month for all the cancellations in the subsequent month, regardless of the day in that month. Pure hunch on that, though.
I must be misunderstanding. Why is this unfair?
Her one year credit card membership (which is the only reason she had the United Club membership) apparently expired in October. Notwithstanding any date on a card notwithstanding, why should she get a 15 month United Club membership?
The devil's advocate in me would proffer that she owes UA $50 for being permitted into the SFO Club when she wasn't entitled to enter.
What am I missing here?
