On Allegiant and Spirit you can purchase seat assignments for a nominal fee as opposed to Delta Basic Economy. Another option on Allegiant is to purchase priority boarding which offers pre-boarding.

Further, the standard for Spirit and Allegiant is open seating which affords many more opportunities to sit together.

We are talking about basic economy; it is fallacious to try to reframe the debate and comparison to other fare classes.
