I have a buddy who's an air traffic controller at a major intl airport who goes out of his way to give very simple taxi instructions to foreign carriers because he doesn't want to overburden a pilot who doesn't speak english very well with extremely complex taxi routings, such as not using a departure runway further away when there's an arrival runway nearby that he can squeeze a departure through in between arrivals.
