Same camera at Yodobashi Camera is ¥656,770 right now, tax inclusive. As a tourist you can take 8% of that for duty free. You can then get an additional 5% by paying with a Visa card; so call it ¥578,000. Using a credit card that doesn't charge an FX load, that might be $4,900.
If you were in the market for one of these, you might practically fund a trip US-Japan to buy one and still come out ahead.
Except when you need warranty service, you'll wish you had bought the US model
