Yes I'm allergic as well and do start sneezing/swelling up a bit with cats on a plane. Had a flight with one that escaped...that was interesting.
And honestly, I'm a dog person so I don't really mind, but it does seem odd that there was a time when you almost never saw dogs (or any pets for that matter) in the actual cabin of the plane...they were always in kennels in the cargo hold....what's up with the change?? Are they free if you bring them on-board with you and people are just trying to save $$?
No there is still a fee.

Granted some try to avoid the fee...
