That is an important point. If weather is an issue (or even MX) and the flight is canceled, I wouldn't count on UA being generous and giving you mileage for a trip you haven't even started. And 12/30 is too late in the year to reschedule. Best to avoid the whole situation and fly to SPI on 12/23. Good call, fzwinter!
