I booked JAX--->ATL--->LAS--->BUR. . .
It would be rough for Tim to get down to LAX for a 3:45pm arrival on a work day even if LAX was closer than BUR - and it's way farther away (his work is in Pasadena). Not having multiple connections for me would've been terrific but BUR at 7:40pm is obviously way better for him, plus which I get to fly into BUR (with the one minute taxi time and deplaning from the rear of the aircraft and then not being stuck on the freeway for however long it would take to get back to Glendale from LAX). It's so much faster to end up there - it's going to work out great.
Plus which, I like seeing Las Vegas from the air - making a connection there will give me a chance to do that twice. I listen to the LAS tower on LiveATC before boarding to scope the landing and takeoff runways so I know which side of the aircraft to snag. There's always the chance the winds could change during the ATL--->LAS flight so the runway for landing might not hold up, but the takeoff runway from LAS--->BUR should be easy to verify during the hour connection.
We used to live in Las Vegas and there was a nonstop between LAS and JAX in the past (both outbound and inbound). I guess demand is less in winter and JAX is a more obscure destination for a nonstop anyway. Perhaps that routing or a more favorable one will open up closer to time.
Sometimes just writing things out makes it so clear, when it should've been clear all along. Thank you very much nineworldseries, joshua362 and NextTrip for taking your time to share your thoughts and help me sort this out.
