It will cost me 48k points total... Considering that star points are not so easy to acquire I'm a little hesitant.
Also what are my odds of getting an suite upgrade in Jan? I have gold status. thanks!
OMG that's a lot of money. I would definitely take the points. But if you don't have a lot of points, consider creating your own C&P by booking one room as revenue, the other room as reward. So your cost would be 24K pts + $608 or 6K pts + $152 per room per night. Normal C&P for Cat 5 is 6K pts + $110/night.

I do this all the time in Hawaii in Cat 6 hotels. When I was in Waikiki in Nov, the rooms were 20K pts/night but I had a BRG for $210. I did 2 reward nights and 1 paid night so I averaged 13.3K pts + $70/night. I will be back in January and the rates are 25K pts for high season , so I'm doing 2 paid nights at $190 (BRG with 10% discount) and 1 reward night for an average of 8.3K pts + $127/night.

Considering SPG 's normal C&P rate for Cat 6 hotels is 10K pts + $180/night, I figure my way is better!
