Urrrgh... so complicated. I expect to be taking cabs in places like MIA, HKG and various Caribbean ports of call... I don't ever remember seeing cabs with shoulder belts outside of Canada or the US, though (not that it would have stood out in my mind).

I do like the look of the Ridesafer and it would be great to just take a backpack of my own and throw the RSTV in there instead of carrying a Boostapak on my back. Between the Ridesafer and the CARES Harness, I would have most of the bases covered... I guess there might the odd time where I have no choice but to take a cab with only a lap belt in which case the little guy will use that. Hopefully not, but we'll see.

Thanks again for all the insight. I can't believe I actually miss the relatively simple days of just taking a car seat and snap-stroller!
