Yeah, I pretty much got confirmation from an AAdvantage customer service agent that they're not doing courtesy bumps anymore when I called to ask if I should route myself from BOS-DCA via LGA to get the extra 500 miles and avoid being 334 miles short. They said flat out if I didn't add that extra segment I'd be paying $1199 to renew my EXP status.

Hmm. $1199 to bump up vs $23 and an extra 2 hours of travel time to just get the miles...
