Very busy flight to OTP today. Purser saw me struggling to store my wheely bag and when I said "I might have to gate check this" (not particularly bothered about the prospect), he looked horrified and said "No Sir, I'm very sorry, please do take your seat, I guarantee I will find you some room later either in the wardrobe or by sorting out the other bags at the back of the business cabin."
Was travelling in J. Space was made available, despite other pax having to gate check.

Moral of the story? Why it is simple:
Reciprocity IS Rewarding! I think sending off a complement to the "higher-up boffins" is an excellent idea. When I do so, I also state that someone in HR really saw great potential when the particular FA was hired/selected from the applicant pool. Before I seal the note, I (usually) ask that the FA and CSD both read my comments when they have time. Occasionally I do get a note back from the "higher-up boffins". Good work deserves recognition - only takes a few minutes and it makes "them" feel good after a busy flight with cranky, sometimes demanding, passengers and ....
