I have been on that side of the fence and it is not enjoyable. I think most major airlines have some element of diminished service for those who do speak the native language of the carrier. My worse flight ever was in KE TPAC F when the FA's did not even understand the simple request of "water" in english.

Supplying her with flash cards with chinese on one side and english on the other is a good idea. Otherwise at the end of the day she will get from point A to point B.
