I do sort of agree that the system is a little skewed. I've managed to be creative with my bookings, purposely starting from the regions or Jersey to ensure I scoop as many Avios and TPs as I can from the travel I do.

I've had an exciting year and managed to afford my first ever F redemption for March next year. I've also flown enough (and with a few flights left) to hit Gold in the last week of my membership year.

I was always going to travel quite a bit, but for minimal additional outlay I've managed to gain maximum benefit. I don't consider myself particularly experienced but I do invest the time in being astute.

TP runs are open to you too, and as CWS says, a lot of the SH+ destinations are lovely for a long weekend. For me, it's not about doing back-to-backs and putting my body through the mixer. Have a holiday.
