I actually find it pretty odd that people seem to think it's OK for a GA to behave in the manner described in the OP or just to brush it off. Sure, it's not the end of the world but there's really no excuse for snark and attitude from a GA, and the problem here seems to have been caused solely by their own prejudices and unwillingness to do even the simplest task - looking at the BP - with anything approaching good grace.
