In these days of technology, a big screen flashing the current boarding group isn't a hard thing to do. (They already have upgrade lists displayed.) Or even better, a BP scanner that will automatically reject not-yet-called boarding groups and reclassify them as the last group (UA might call it Group 6).

I'm pretty sure I've seen on the GIDS before a message that says "Boarding Zone SKY" or whatever zone they are currently on. If I remember correctly, it's usually a big green box with the writing in it. Problem is, the TVs they use for the GIDS aren't always in a convenient spot to where you actually board.
