Through United, a partner of AC, I booked two business class AC seats Toronto to Phoenix for next April, and put them on hold. Forgot to confirm them before the expiry date of the hold. Rebooked but there was only one business class left...so with the same number of points I took 1 bus class and 1 economy with the hope AC would release another Business Class seat. I've called UA several times over the last month and AC still has not released any more business class seats. The return is OK with two business class seats and that's why UA took the full 40,000 pts for it.

Question: If upon checkin and they have room in business class, what are the chances of having my one economy seat moved into business class - would the fact I used the biz class points carry any weight.
