I don't think there is a definitive answer to a GM/FO using a SWU as to where they fit in the priority.

Bottom line is if you don't have the AMEX Reserve you have 9 possible layers ahead of you no matter how early you booked as a DM on an M fare, 8 if you do have the AMEX Reserve.
