I finally had my chance to fly Air Canada's version of the Dreamliner and I must say that I am very underwhelmed by the new pods.
The seat back when in the upright position is so straight it is uncomfortable and my feet don't reach the foot rest so until reaching cruising Altitude I was sitting very uncomfortably. To make it worse, the FAs go around lowering the aisle side arm rest so there is nowhere to rest that arm.
Once I was able to recline, I found it difficult to get into a really comfortable recline position. The old pods have much more options with bringing the footrest higher and leaning back the head peice.
I don't know if I had a slightly broken pod, but it definitely is not fully flat when in sleep mode. The back part does not go all the way down and my head was uncomfortably elevated when I was trying to sleep. I was only able to sleep 3 hours and I was tired.
Another annoying thing is if you are in bed mode and sleeping on your back, you can't lift your knees because of the position of the tray and TV.
Overall, I was not impressed.
