Japan Sim by IlJmio
Based on this forum I purchased a ($40 - 2 Gb Data) Japan Travel SIM powered by IIJ mio in November 2014 at a Bic Camera store in Kyoto. I have an iPhone 5s running iOS7. I popped the nano card in and downloaded the profile, even upgraded to iOS8 as recommended, but no joy, the card simply did not work. The (English) customer service phone line was in Tokyo and I wasn't willing to throw more good money after bad with a long distance call, since I had my doubts it would work. I finally had access to a free phone 8 days into my 18 day trip. After a 3 way conversation both ways (me->interpreter->tech) the tech said it was a defective card. After 40 minutes of apologies (so sorry for the inconvenience, but no refunds because I purchased from BIC) - the tech must have corrected the problem remotely, as I started getting data about 2 hours after the phone call.Data was often slow or non-existent. I must admit they did follow up with a phone call to my hotel to check it was working that day. All in all, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
