If you use any typical or average, you may well be making a mistake.
It all depends on YOUR usage patterns or potential.
For example, if you often fly from ATL-MIA and your tickets usually cost you $750, but you can get an award for 25,000 some of time, then those miles are worth $.03 each.
But, if you can usually get a ticket for $250, then the miles are worth $0.01 each.
Some people save them for intl business and get a higher value. But if you are never going to either earn enough, or ever fly intl, then that persons value is worthless to you.
There are a million examples, but it all comes down to how you use them. By the way, my brother has 700,000 miles and right now they are worth very little to him. Recently, he had a trip that he could buy tickets for $300 RT. Instead he used 50,000 miles as he realized the points are worth ZERO if he does not use them.
