If someone is moving permanently, or perhaps is a snowbird that goes to a second residence seasonally, then I can understand. I just don't understand people that can't go anywhere even for a couple of days without their pets and expect everyone (airlines, hotels, cabs, fellow travelers, etc.) to bend over backward to accommodate them.
I am not judging whether one should leave their pets behind. If they need the pet for emotional support or whatever reason, they are entitled to that. But I don't think their point was the airline should bend backward to accommodate them. I believe the problem they had was they were not aware of the pet policy until it was too late to make alternate arrangement (just speculating).

Would be nice if we have more details on the incident but so far we have mainly been speculating what has happened. Hopefully we will also hear CX side of the story after it has looked into the incident.
