My wife applied for Exec #6 two weeks ago. She got the "application pending" message and followed up with a phone call a couple of days later. The CSR told her that her application was denied, so she left it at that. Citi followed up with a letter a few days later that said the denial was for "too many recent applications for credit".

This morning a UPS envelope arrives. The letter states that her application was approved for $5K and it also confirmed the 50K miles.

Has anyone else received a denial and then approval without requesting reconsideration? Just curious.
