The bromance lives on...
At the weekend, Nadia (the OH) and I had the pleasure of being invited to
Filthy Monkey's home (aka, the 'retreat') in Glasgow. There was no flying involved, but this is more of a TR on the skills of a domestic goddess whom we affectionately know as
Filthy Monkey.
Little did we know that when we arrived at the retreat that there would be a delicious feast a brewing. First and foremost however, I popped open a bottle of Champagne. Sitting in the fridge was a magnificent sight - 6 bottles of Louis Chaurey. We helped ourselves to a few glasses.
Fine and crisp it was as well!
Dinner was subsequently served. I will allow
Filthy to explain the menu in more detail, but I think the pictures speak for themselves. It was delicious.
(I hope I get this right....)
The first course was
scallops, ravioli and butternut squash puree with chanterelle mushrooms and a wedge of parmesan crisp. This would rival the CCR anytime.
We had a few other champagnes to try out that night, Mumm being one of them, but we both thought it wasn't good at all. So it was quickly finished without much afterthought.
Onto the main course, and we broke open a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Brut to pair
Dinner was a
roast breast of chicken (the skin was FANTASTIC and CRISP) with a porcini mushroom sauce, asparagus tips and a parmesan potato gratin. The gratin was so good we all got second helpings, and I may have been caught licking the plate dry of the sauce!
Another bottle of champagne was opened, some christmas jazz music came on, and we moved onto dessert. OH MY WORD. Look at what came out the kitchen
New York style cheesecake, with a raspberry and strawberry au jus
After dinner, some chocolates were dished out (Just like flying in F!)
And the champagne kept flowing!
What can I say, the man is a dark horse! Not only does he fly alot but he also knows how to cook a 3 course meal to die for!
Cheers from us both folks! Till next time...
