Do I bother with a last minute MR for silver?
I think the answer is 'no,' but wanted to throw this out there for the experts. I am struggling with whether to mr to keep silver delta for next year.
I am a gold medallion and mostly enjoy the sky priority access and the ability to call the elite line.
Mr. Florida Gal and I have an Amex platinum so baggage fees aren't an issue, or fees for economy comfort. We also have a delta Amex plat for the pay with miles option. I didn't use it for most of the year (was planning to pay rent with it but our management company nixed Amex due to fees) so no mqm bonus which was my original thought. I'm going to downgrade this to the gold or cancel altogether.
For long haul travel we generally book biz or first if possible. Short haul is mostly nyc to west palm. We are in our 30s.
A somewhat last minute trip to Hawaii on united kind of put a damper on miles this year. We couldn't get on the hawaiian airlines direct flight and matched over to united for the economy comfort and cleared upgrades with miles. I am around 1990 miles short of silver on delta. Is it even worth doing a mileage run? I can fly to pbi this weekend and get the miles (just barely). I don't want to buy the mqms at $625. We don't have any crazy travel plans for next year. I'd appreciate your insight!
Edited to add that I have the platinum companion cert but can't find availability for anything over Xmas. Thoughts? Many thanks!
