My dad is a 2 million miler with UA. The majority of those miles were aquired pre-merger Continental.
My dad just retiered this year. That said, he never wants to sit in an airplane again. So, we're going to transfer his miles to my MP account (I am Silver) so they don't expire, as I now fly weekly.
Question: given I'm Silver, but will soon have 2 million+ miles in my account upon transfer, would I then be eligible for Premier Access boarding, priorty luggage etc...? All the perks that my dad had, given his status
I would assume the answer is no, but I can't find a factual answer.
Thanks for the help!
It costs money to transfer miles from one MP account to another.

United is charging 1.5 cents per mile, so probably not worth transferring.
You don't get status with the mileage transfer. Doesn't matter if you have a billion miles in your account, status is conferred with the number of miles flown under your rear end with paid revenue ticket. (meeting certain cost requirements of course)
Best thing to do here is probably to keep the miles in your dad's account, then use the account to book tickets for you.
